Aren't they cute!

Tonight the boys had the annual Blue and Gold banquet for cub scouts. They were so excited because the finally got to wear their scout shirts. I have been so busy that was last on my list, but Rylan's leader took the shirt and sewed the patches on. I am so grateful because they have waited a long time. I still have a hard time believing that the boys are old enough to be in cub scouts. They received a lot of awards. They really enjoy the scouting program. They were excited to show us the decorations that they made. The theme was Chinese New Year. They boys made dragons and had a parade of dragons. They also made Chinese lanterns. All in all it was a fun night for the whole family.

Happy Birthday Grandma

Today was Grandma Betty's Birthday. We had a nice dinner at my house. I attempted to make a nice cake. I baked a two layer round cake with strawberry filling. When I got to frosting it I used the cream cheese frosting, well chocolate cake and white frosting don't really mix well. So I did the best I could and hide a lot of flaws with huge strawberries on top of the cake. At any rate it tasted yumm-o.

I'll take it...

Saturday Jim helped me clean the house. I tried to sneak up on him to take this picture. He said he was a "gangsta". Well gangsta or not I am just totally excited to get the help Thanks honey!

How sweet it is.

Today was a fun day. I stayed up late last night and put up some Valentines decorations and made my favorite treat for my family. "Chocolate dipped strawberries". It was fun to see the kids face this morning when they saw all of my preparations. They were definitely in the mood for Valentine's Day. The excitement has been building for a couple of days as we made the annual Valentines boxes for school. As always they boys did a great job. But before I could get a picture they tore into them to get to the candy. The only damper to the day was more snow. The district announced that school would be starting 2 hours later than normal. The bright side is that we had some more time in the morning together than we normally do. That made me happy.

I picked up a heart shaped pizza for dinner. The kids loved it. We all sat down and had our Valentines feast. We all had a great time. The kids then presented me with a wonderful Valentines card. I absolutely love the homemade one's. They each wrote a special note. How sweet it is to have such great kids and husband. Happy Valentines!

"GDO" Girls Day Out!

I am truly "blessed" to still see my friends from high school. I say "blessed" because people I have spoken with at work and just out and about seemed to be amazed. Is this really a rare thing to have? I think that we have just been fortunate that we all pretty much stay around where we grew up and pretty much have parallel lives. We are all moms of two or more kids and we all work our butts off. It is nice to have some time to just talk to the girls. Girls who totally understand what you are going through or just to lend and hear or shoulder. Thanks for such a great time!!!

We miss you Angela!!!

My sister came home for a week to have some dental work done. We had fun seeing her and spending some time with her. It is still weird to me that she lives out of state. She got home last night and today she sent me a text picture. The picture showed the sunny weather and no snow...image that! One more reason to grumble about the snow...I hope that it ends soon!

Ground Hogs Day!

This year I thought it would be fun to have a groundhog's day dinner. Since groundhogs day landed on a Saturday this year, I gathered the kids around the computer to see what the prediction would be. Well Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. So another 6 weeks of winter..GRRR. Since I wasn't very happy with the news I started to think about dinner. I told the kids I was mad at the groundhog and decided to go groundhog hunting....the meat in the crock-pot is groundhog meat. (aka pork roast) For most of the day they really thought it was a groundhog they were going to eat for dinner. They got a kick out of it. I had some fun activities for the kids to do while dinner was cooking. We had a good time and a yummy dinner even if it wasn't really groundhog's meat.

More Snow

Okay I admit it! I am tired of the snow. It seems like it has been snowing non-stop since we got back from our trip. It wouldn't be so bad if I knew that every where in the world was in the same situation. But I know for a fact there are people sitting on a beach some where enjoying warm sunny weather. Sigh!!

The kids have had a great time playing in the snow. Another confession, since the boys are old enough I haven't had to shovel too much snow....isn't that what kids are for? just kidding. Moderation in all things....shovel some snow off the driveway, take a break and make snow angels....it all works out.
